THE proposed new "Western" route for the Crediton Link Road from the A377 at Exeter Road to the Lords Meadow Industrial Estate should be modified further town councillors agreed at a general purposes committee meeting.
The new route revealed by Devon County Council, unlike the two it asked the public to choose from at the last public consultation exercise, is cheaper to build and less steep.
However, it would go much closer to the back of homes at Exeter Road and Downshead Lane, over land used for allotments, but would be further away from Downes House.
The new route would mean the demolition of more than half of an old orchard and force the removal of a badger set.
