THE Rotary Club of Crediton Boniface, which meets weekly at the New Inn, Coleford, has raised a record amount, more than £12,000, from a varied programme of events during the past year of the outgoing president, Roger Pennington. The major beneficiaries of Mr Pennington's year in office were the Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) and the Farming Community Network (FCN). This month Fran Carnell of DAAT and Stephen Dennis of FCN received cheques for just under £5,000 each, presented by Mr Pennington and newly-elected president, Julia Pratt. In the case of DAAT, the donation augments another £1,500 already paid directly to the Trust. The money was raised through a programme of fundraising events which included a Caribbean Evening at Waterbridge Golf Club, a darts marathon for pubs in Crediton and the surrounding villages, an auction of promises at Colebrooke Parish Hall, A Christmas bag pack day at Tesco Crediton and a bucket collection held at Exeter City Football Club. Crediton Boniface Rotary Club would like to thank everyone who contributed to the fundraising programme. Alan Quick
