THE Rotary Club of Crediton Boniface has donated two gazebos to the 1st Crediton Scout Group.
The President of Crediton Boniface Rotary Club, Paul Radnor said: “We nominated Crediton Scouts as one of our beneficiaries this year as I was a scout 50 plus years ago and I wanted to give something back to local scouting.”
The gazebos were given a “test run” and erected in the grounds in front of the Scout hut on Saturday, October 10.
Debbie Richards, former group Scout Leader said: “As the recent outgoing Group Scout Leader I would like to say a huge thank you on behalf of the group, to the President Paul Radnor and fellow members of the Rotary Club of Crediton Boniface for their recent kind and generous donation.
“A while back, I was approached by Paul, who with agreement from club members, was allowed to choose the charities the Rotary support, during his Presidency.
“When we were asked for a wish list, our Leadership and Executive team agreed that it would be really useful to have a gazebo type shelter, ideally embossed with our scout group name and logos too, which when used would aid publicity of scouting both within our town and further afield.
“The Rotary Club agreed and as a thank you we also requested for their logo to be added too.
“The club went on to not only fund one gazebo but two! Needless to say, we were delighted.
“After much deliberation over the design and then with Covid-19 putting a halt to face-to-face Scouting, we have only recently been in receipt of both gazebos.
“However, once everything returns to normal or the ’new normal’, I know the group will make good use of their new equipment, especially at community events.
“It is hoped that at some point 1st Crediton Scout Group and The Rotary Club will be able to join together for an event.”
