THE 16th annual Rose and Crown Motorcycle Show and Meet, took place in Sandford on Saturday July 16, attracting just less than 500 bikes plus hundreds on foot.

Jill Conibear, licensee at the Rose and Crown, with her partner Andy, described it as “our biggest attendance due to the fabulous weather”, adding “there are so many gorgeous bikes it always makes the judging of some of the classes very difficult.”

“We have donated a total of £3,157.94 to Devon Air Ambulance Trust which is our highest total to date which tops last year’s figure of £2,874, and is one of the highest amounts we have raised.

“Great music was provided by local band, “Old Skool Rox”, and the well-known local band, “Audius Maximus”, who kept everyone entertained all afternoon in glorious sunshine.

“The barbecue was a huge success again this year with Chinn’s delicious sausages and burgers and the ladies in the tea tent were also kept busy all afternoon with the sale of their lovely cream sponges.

“We would like to say a massive ‘thank you’ to all of our sponsors who help make the show possible and also thanks to Ralph Tatlock for the loan of the field, Peter Coleman (Creedy Carver) for straw bales, Jim and Brenda Short for allowing us access across their garden and to Lyn and Age Cartlidge and members of Sandford AFC for the car parking on the playing fields.”

“We’d like to say a special thanks to our new sponsors this year and also to Crediton Pet Shop, Crediton Card Centre and V E Barker Jewellers for the donation of draw prizes and Chinns for the use of their chiller van.”

Jill and Andy of the Rose and Crown would also like to thank everyone involved with the Bike Show, the volunteers who helped on the day, as well as their staff, and to everyone who goes along and supports the show every year.

Jill added: “All these people make it the success that it is.”
