THERE was a great turnout for the Ride for Bob charity event which took place at Morchard Bishop Playing Fields on September 24.

The event was held for Bob Adams to help raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The event has raised £4,300 to-date for the charity and included a cheque from Lloyds Bank for £500 to match fund the first £500.

There was a barbecue, a licensed bar and music for people to enjoy and an afternoon ride out by the bikers to Bude.

As well as day entry there was the opportunity to camp overnight with showers and breakfast provided in the morning.

Around 50 bikers attended the event and other brave souls cycled from Crediton up the steep hills to the venue.

Bob has been actively involved in fundraising for MND for many years and there have been previous Cycle for Sue rides from Lands End to Crediton and from Ilfracombe to Exmouth in memory of Sue Coleman.

The cycling group have been particularly unfortunate as another member of the group, Paul Lee, also lost his life to MND and Bob was diagnosed with the disease in 2018.

Bob is a member of Unity Lodge of Freemasons and a Past Master of Unity Mark.

The event was organised by Unity Lodge 1332 and supported by the Pilgrims Chapter of the Widows Sons MBA and Morchard Bishop Playing Fields to support those living with Motor Neurone Disease.

The organisers wish to thank all those who helped to organise the event and all those who supported it.

Special thanks to the Widows Sons MBA, Bob Robinson for the use of the fields, all at Unity Lodge who helped and The President’s Men and first Ladies for their help.
