THE resentment many people are feeling over the careless sell-off of our Council Offices in Crediton is not going to go away in a hurry!
Especially as it has been so important as a base for community-supporting organisations like Citizens Advice and Crediton Community Transport to name only two.
Many citizens of this area, if asked, would agreed with David Nation’s view in last week’s Courier (letters, October 19), that it has been not only disgusting but appalling that so much power has been wielded by so few.
Only three members of Mid Devon District Council’s Cabinet made a decision which affects so many, when the full council had voted in favour of allowing the Town Council to buy the building.
It seems a pity that others with power to fight alongside, for justice for our area, did not stand up to be counted.
Our only choice, when the next local election or even the national one occurs, is to put our cross beside the name of someone, somewhere, that we do have confidence in.
Perhaps then we may stand a chance, when other decision-making is called for, of getting the kind of democratic answers we deserve.
