COLEBROOKE Parish Council met in July and discussed the assets register.

Councillors had identified that a number of assets need some repair and maintenance and a £500 budget was set up from the reserves to allow this work to be started.

They heard that the council had received a successful internal audit report and that the Annual Return had now been sent to the external auditor for scrutiny.

The clerk reported that she had not yet received any proposals for the use of this money.

Councillors agreed that further work was required on the Parish Hall and that there was a need to replace the Colebrooke Bus Shelter.

They resolved that work should commence on costing a replacement bus shelter.

The chairman referred to the successful Parish Plan launch.

Responsibility for carrying work forward now rests with the Parish Council and five focus groups.

The chairman said that volunteers were still needed to help with the Transport and Village Activities focus groups.

Cllr Butt reported on the first meeting of the Communications Group and the potential costs of the proposed new village newsletter which could be offset by advertising.

The Parish Council resolved that £500 should be allocated to pump prime the newsletter.

Cllr Graham agreed to investigate the Parish Paths Partnership Agreement.

Councillors heard that provisionally December 10 had been suggested for a community Celebration event.

They also received an updated report from Cllr Graham on the Broadband issues within the parish and from the chairman about the very successful Big Lunch on June 12 and the Boules and Barbecue event at the end of June.

The next event will be the Steve Knightly concert on September 17. Councillors were pleased to hear that a monthly coffee morning would begin on September 9. All welcome for tea and cakes in the Parish Hall. Transport will be provided for those who require assistance.

The council heard that there had been four crimes reported in the parish since May 2016.
