THE service at Crediton Methodist Church on Sunday, November 14, Remembrance Sunday, was led by Jon Curtis remotely as he was isolating because a member of his family had tested positive to Covid. We give thanks for technology and the expertise of our AV team who facilitated this.
The family challenge was to show memories of the war years.
One person showed memorabilia of her father-in-law’s time in the Home Guard and also a swagger stick that had been handed down in the family.
Our oldest member of the congregation, at 96 years-old, showed a photo of himself and his brother along with others as part of the Home Guard in Meshaw. They were both farmers and, as such, classed as a reserved occupation.
Photos were also shown of two memorials on the church walls commemorating young men of the town who had died during the war.
At 11am we remembered the sacrifice of so many others who have died in wars and conflicts – those who have given their lives for others - We Will Remember Them.
