PROPOSED changes to recycling services offered by Mid Devon District Council could see a charge being introduced for brown bins.
Cardboard and plastic may also be collected from the doorstep as part of the changes.
In July, Mid Devon councillors drew up options for alterations to the £2.5m waste and recycling service.
A report was produced looking at possible changes and recommendations were due to be debated at a meeting of the Cabinet yesterday, Thursday, January 9.
The document highlights the challenges faced to reduce the costs of the service, which is also said to have collection vehicles in need of repair or replacement.
It says charging for garden waste collection would be unpopular
It hopes a cardboard collection scheme could provide the council with a "modest income for no outlay costs" and could be introduced ahead of any major collection scheme changes which would be likely to come into force from October, 2015.
