HARVEST Festival weekend at St Swithun’s Church, Shobrooke, this year, will be held on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16.

The weekend is organised by the Friends of Shobrooke Church and is its main annual money-raising event to maintain the Church.

The theme for this year is “Raising the Roof” and the Church will be decorated accordingly.

There will be exhibitions and crafts, stalls selling produce, flowers, cakes, jams, bric-a-brac, plants and books, a silent auction, refreshments and a grand draw.

The Festival opens with a short service at the Holy Well in Church Lane on the Saturday at 10.15am and all the stalls and activities will be open at 10.30am.

Coffees, teas, cold drinks and snacks are available in the morning and light lunches at lunch-time. Teas will be served in the afternoon with the day ending at 5pm.

On the Sunday everything opens up at the church from 2pm to 4.30pm and once again teas and light refreshments will be available during this time.

At 3pm there will be a short children’s service in the church, which ends with the traditional rose petal shower from the tower and is followed by Super Toys descending down a zip-wire from the tower.

At 6.30pm there will be a special Harvest Songs of Praise. At the end of this service there will be a collection for Refugees.

There will also be a Crediton Foodbank box available for donations.

Proceeds from the weekend will go towards the Church Roof Fund at St Swithun’s.
