LORD Ivar Mountbatten chaired the AGM of Mid Devon Show Society after having been elected been elected as the President of the Show for 2010. He presided over a room full of Members and supporters of the show and received reports of a successful 2009 event.

Angela Browning MP, retiring President, spoke of a year in which she had "very much enjoyed her involvement with such a successful event," especially supporting her chosen charity, the Tiverton Market Centre Youth Drop-In.

The Show charity for 2010 will be the Royal Agriculture Benovelent Institution which is celebrating 150 years in existence this year and which supports those who have fallen on hard times, having been involved in the agricultural industry.

The meeting was advised of four people who had successfully applied for scholarship support and it was noted that candidates of all ages could apply in support of research or training in industries connected with agriculture.

Derek Thomas, as retiring Show Director, was presented with a picture, in acknowledgment of his many years involvement with the organisation.

Lord Mountbatten said he was "very much looking forward" to his year of involvement with the show and especially the day itself on Saturday, July 24 at Hartnoll Farm, Post Hill, Tiverton.
