CONGRATULATIONS go to the organisers of Sandford Harvest Supper, which was a lovely community event and very friendly.
When everyone arrived popular music was played by Steve Smith and Carina Vince. Peter Baker welcomed everyone and said that the profit from the supper, would be divided between St Swithun’s Church, and the British Red Cross who are active in the Yemen to look after the children in this war-torn state. Preb Nigel Guthrie said the Grace. The supper was delicious, ham and quiche with a variety of salads and jacket potatoes followed by a variety of mouth-watering puddings.
The youngest visitor at the supper was 13-weeks-old Archie Larter, who with his parents Lyndsay and Alex, moved to the village a few months ago.
Rev Helen Drever, the new Curate at the Church of the Holy Cross, Crediton, was also present and said how much she enjoyed it.
Also present were Canon Michael Hall and his wife Sandy, plus several local councillors, including Margaret Squires and Judi Binks.
Ronald Somerville ran his plant, fruit and produce stall, to help with the fundraising and did a good trade. Margaret Phillips ran the draw and finally, Mary-Rose Somerville thanked Rita King and her team of helpers for organising such a superb evening.
There was no formal entertainment this year, but this gave everyone the chance to chat with each other, so it was not missed at all. A wonderful evening which raised a total of £832.
