MORE than £4,000 has been raised for a Lapford project after 44 intrepid and brave people descended from Lapford Parish Church tower by abseil.

More than 200 people went along to watch, cheer on and applaud them as they put their trust in a rope and excellent instruction and coaching from Andy Hills, supported by Amy.

The abseilers ranged in age from 13 to 78 years.

Women, men, girls and boys took part and although sponsorship was still coming in, the total has reached more than £4,000.

The money is going to HOLD, the Heart of Lapford Development, to help pay towards the purchase of Lower Town Place with the aim of redeveloping it for community uses.

Thanks have been expressed to all who abseiled, the sponsors, those who went along to watch and those who helped with event planning, refreshments, registration etc.

St Thomas’s Church PCC was also thanked for being willing for the church to be used.

Also thanked was Andy of AH Mountaineering and Vertex Solutions UK for the scaffolding.

It was noted that it was another amazingly successful, widely supported and community spirited fundraiser for HOLD.
