COPPLESTONE Primary School has been awarded £195,000 to enable expansion plans to proceed.

The decision was made at a meeting of Devon County Council's cabinet on Wednesday.

It was part of a £21 million programme of investment in Devon's schools in the next financial year.

Copplestone School has had a full complement of pupils for some months and recently a suggestion to decrease the catchment area for the school, was put on hold.

It is believed the money, from Devon's education capital programme for 2012/13, will be used to provide extra classrooms for the school.

Many other schools across the county are also set to benefit from the funding.
