ST Andrews in Cullompton and Shapland Place in Tiverton have been identified as suitable sites for the exciting new projects – with a stunning show home available to view.

The site in Cullompton looks to provide three one bed and three two bedroomed Zed Pod Net Zero Carbon homes, each with their own car parking spaces.

A mural on the building has also been set out in the plans which will look to gain design ideas from the local community.

An additional eight Zed Pod homes and 37 parking spaces are planned for development in Tiverton only a few 100 metres from the River Exe and town centre.

The proposals include a mixture of housing types, including four one bed, three two bed and one three bedroomed homes.

Both sites will be completed with triple glazing and solar panels, have their own private communal green space as well as separate storage for residents’ bins and bicycles – with plans for new homes to be built on land currently occupied by garages and car parking.

The developments are set to be carbon-neutral, making this one of the first social housing projects of this type within the UK and continuing the Councils ambition towards being carbon zero by 2030.

The fully furnished show home, similar to those planned to be built in the two Mid Devon towns will be on display at Culm Valley Sports Centre car park. A Covid secure tour of the property will be available on a drop-in basis from 9.30am to 3pm on weekdays until Friday, August 13.

Additional afternoon/evening drop-in time slots will be made available soon.

Councillor Bob Evans, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “It’s great to be able to see inside the show home and really understand the quality of finish these homes have. We are committed to providing more social housing across the district and these homes will provide this as well as help us strive towards our goal of being carbon-neutral by 2030.

“I would encourage people to take a look at the plans for the sites or book a tour to see for themselves.”

The modular nature of Zed Pods means the onsite construction time is minimal and the houses are delivered complete, resulting in little disruption to neighbouring properties and allowing the new residents to move in immediately.
