THE Music Makers’ presents a free lunch-time recital at Crediton Congregational Church on Friday, July 7 from 1.10pm to 1.50pm.

This will be an opportunity to hear one of the areas rising young musicians, violinist Joel Munday.

He is accompanied by pianist Peter Clarke. He will play a variety of works, including by the baroque composer Tomaso Vitali, and more modern works by Ravel, Faure and Gershwin.

Joel was the winner of the Two Moors Festival’s Young Musicians Platform Competition last year, and this year also a prize winner at the prestigious Whitgift International Music Competition.

He is a student at Exeter College, but on Saturdays travels to London to attend specialist coaching with the Royal College of Music’s Junior Department.

This event is an extra recital, in advance of the six Summer Lunchtime Recitals, to be held in August. There will also be an evening Music Makers’ concert on Saturday, July 22, beginning at 7pm.

Expect the usual hospitality at the Congregational Church. Doors open at 12.30pm.

Admission is free, but donations are invited towards the musicians’ costs.
