AS has been the tradition for many years, prayers were said at the St Boniface Statue to mark the Crediton Saint’s Feast Day on June 5.

Prayers were led by Crediton Rector, Rev Matthew Tregenza, and a reading was given by Judy Tucker from the Boniface Link Association.

Folk singer Jim Causley, who thought of the idea that St Boniface become Patron Saint of Devon, sang the song he had written “St Boniface Day”.

Following the service a traditional Devonshire cream tea was enjoyed at the Boniface Centre by those who attended.

Professor Nick Groom gave the toast to Devon and St Boniface at the celebration tea, and specially-made Boniface biscuits were also enjoyed.

As well as those who took part, the guests included others who had been involved in the campaign to make Boniface Patron Saint of Devon, County Councillor for Crediton, Cllr Nick Way, Alan Quick, Editorial Manager of the “Crediton Courier” and other Boniface Link Association members.
