FED UP and about to leave town, the landlord’s cat at a certain Bethlehem establishment becomes curious and wants to find out more about what is going on in the stable there.
That was the theme of "The Landlord’s Cat" presented by pupils of Cheriton Bishop Primary School in the parish church on Friday, December 14.
Mince pies and non-alcoholic mulled wine were served by members of the school PTFA (Parents, Teachers and Friends Association) outside the church before the show. They are raising funds for a second defibrillator for the village.
There is already one by the Devon Rural Hub on the main road and the evening was the second event to raise money for another.
This would go beside the Spalding Hall, next to the church and the school, the Scout Headquarters being around the corner from the Hall, as well as all the people who live in the area.
It was explained that in the event when the defibrillator might be needed people now have to jump in their car, drive to the main road, collect the defibrillator, drive back and get to use it which can take quite a long time in an emergency. Having another defibrillator by the school and where people meet would be so useful.
A carol singing session around the village would be adding more to the new fund.
Headteacher Mrs Alex Waterman told the audience how the school had raised enough money to refurbish a classroom opened this term.
