FOR the second year as part of Devon Historic Churches Trust (DHCT) Annual Ride and Stride event, the members of St Luke’s Church at Posbury decided to womble around the lanes leading to Posbury collecting litter as they went.

Their route also went through Uton to Moorlake and onwards through Gunstone, up to Blackdown Cross, and from Salmonhutch up Uton Steep and on to Posbury.

Along the way they collected 42kg of rubbish (a little less than last year).

Fiona Mortimer, chairman of the management committee said: “We really enjoyed getting stuck into collecting the litter, but it is a shame that it is something that needs to be done, we expect to have a secondary tidy up of the lanes once the hedges have been cut, as no doubt that will expose a bit more to collect.”

Ruth Vigers, treasurer, said: “We are grateful that DHCT continue to support St Luke’s via their grant scheme, and this way we can give back to the Trust.”

Members of the public can show their appreciation of the work done by the team by donating to the Trust via the St Luke’s website: www.posbury.org.uk .
