SWIFT action by Police Officers from Mid Devon resulted in the arrest of a man believed to have robbed Thorverton Post Office yesterday afternoon, Thursday, September 22.
Police were called at about 3.50pm after a man had allegedly entered the Post Office on Bullen Street and threatened staff with what was thought to be a Taser.
Officers conducted a wide search of the area and apprehended a man on Bickleigh Crest on the A3072, after he allegedly tried to take a vehicle from a passing motorist by pulling them from the vehicle.
WITNESSES SOUGHT
Police are trying to locate the owner of the car, along with any witnesses to the incident.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and is being questioned.
Sergeant Mike Warriner, from the Tiverton Neighbourhood Team, said: “This is a serious crime and we are appealing for anyone who has information regarding this incident to come forward.
“While no one was hurt, money was taken and the victim was left understandably very shaken.
“We wish to speak to the owner of the car, who we believe can help with our enquiries.”
