GUEST speaker at Central Devon Conservative Association Autumn Luncheon, held at the Devon Hotel, Exeter, was Johnny Mercer, the MP for Plymouth Moor View.

Mr Mercer has been the the MP for the constituency since 2015.

He was previously serving as a captain with the 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery stationed at the Citadel in Plymouth.

He fought in some of the most contested summers of the Afghan Campaign and now lives with his wife Felicity and their two young children in Devon.

Johnny gave his maiden speech in the House of Commons on June 1, 2015, describing his "main missions" in Parliament to be improving provisions for mental health and war veterans.

The event was chaired by Christina Findell, who welcomed everyone. Then followed a minute’s silence for the late Sheila Ward.

After the lunch, Mr Mercer gave what was described as an excellent, factual, and at times, humorous talk.

He then answered several questions.

He was thanked by Mike Davies, Central Devon Conservatives Constituency Chairman.
