THE six-week and 90 events Crediton Festival 2013, held from June 1 to July 13, has been hailed as a "resounding success" and plans are being made to hold another Crediton Festival in 2015.

Following a feedback meeting held last month, Rod Brookes-Hocking, on behalf of the Festival production team, explained that the success was more than had been expected, with a far wider range of activities - and audiences - than had been hoped for; arts, sports, food, churches, Scouts and Guides, martial arts, cycling and walking, classical music, schools, and market traders, events for the elderly and the very young.

He explained that no organisations or groups lost money and some made a small profit and that the Arts Centre, which underpinned the event and facilitated it, broke even despite a budget of about £10,000.

Many thanks were expressed to the Arts Centre for putting their trust in something which might have put them at risk and to Rosemary Stephenson, in particular, for excellent work beyond the call of duty.
