EXETER School pupils, parents and staff are delighted with this year’s set of consistently high GCSE results.

A total of 81 per cent of all grades were A* or A and 50.4 per cent were A*. Seventy pupils scored eight or more A*/A grades with 41 registering 10 or more A*/A grades.

The independent school for seven-to-18-year-olds is also celebrating its 20th anniversary of full co-education this year.

Headmaster Bob Griffin said he shared in the pride of pupils, parents and staff on these very encouraging results.

Top achiever Emma Daly from Crediton achieved 11 A* and one A.

Musical Emma plays both the piano and violin.

She was inspired by the themes of poaching and conservation as part of a BudLitFest creative writing project during her English lessons and her work featured at the festival last year.

Patrick Kelly, Georgia Ling, Charlie Mayall, Lauren Sampson and Jamie Stephenson each attained 11 A*s.

Sporty Patrick from Teignmouth represents the school in swimming and rugby and also plays the guitar.

He recently achieved Gold in the annual Intermediate Maths Challenge.

Georgia hails from Exeter and plays both the piano and violin in various senior school orchestras. Georgia’s poetry also featured on displays at last year’s Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival.

Charlie, from Exeter, represents the school in rugby. He achieved Gold Awards in Biology and Maths Challenges and successfully completed the National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) Bronze and Silver courses. Musician Charlie plays the trumpet in school concerts.

Lauren, from North Tawton, took part in the school’s production of “Guys and Dolls” and her poetry featured at the BudLit Festival also.

Strong netballer Lauren regularly plays in the U18 First Seven team and has represented the school on many occasions. She achieved Gold in the Maths Challenge.

Jamie, from Crediton, achieved Gold in the British Biology Challenge and Intermediate Maths Challenge and represents the school in hockey.

Leading musician Jamie plays the trumpet and regularly performs in the jazz concert. He recently passed his Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award.
