THE Annual Show by Cheriton Fitzpaine Garden Club was outstanding for two reasons; there was a record number of entries and many complimentary remarks were made by the judges to competitors.
The arrangements for the show, made by secretary Terry Meakin, were a masterpiece of organisation. Awards were well distributed amongst members but especially noteworthy was a miniature flowers arrangement by Claire Mayer which won her the Old Beams Vase for the most outstanding exhibit in the floral art section.
Jo Anderson won the silver cup for the most points gained in the show and Mary Nunn won the Reg Pike trophy for the most points gained in the floral art section.
Once again the Cheriton Brownies' decorated the tea room and the aroma of sweet peas wafted across the hall.
The Carr Shield for children's potato growing (eight years and under) was won by Megan Perryman and the seven years and under by Hugh Bellamy.
The Brownies' Class was won by Katrina Allen and the Rainbows event by Erin Lancelles.
The next meeting of the Garden Club will be held on in the parish hall on Thursday, September 16, at 7.30pm, when Simon Price will be talking about composting.
