RAISING more than £1,000 on Saturday at Bow School fete, organised by the Friends of Bow School, means the school’s dream of an outdoor classroom moves into reality.

The school would like a space created in the grounds that will provide for lessons, be covered while still being open, a space that could be used at lunchtimes and breaktimes and even by outside groups.

The target has been £10,000 although exactly how much will be needed will depend on the outcome of talks that can now begin about building it.

Headteacher, Mrs Lesley Hodgson, said that Saturday’s fete had raised enough money to go this one step further.

“We are looking for something where we can teach every subject, including environmental subjects, it can be used for so many different things.

“We were grateful to receive £2,000 through the Tesco Bags of Help scheme,” added Mrs Hodgson.

One of the attractions at the school fete had been a fire engine and crew from North Tawton but they were called to a “shout” part way through.

There were more than 60 raffle prizes that included family days out, leisure activities and meal vouchers.

There was guess the weight of the lamb, lent by the Baskerville family, egg throwing competition, lots of games and music and lots of stalls.
