THE gardens of Frogbury House at Coldridge were open to the public during the afternoon of Sunday, September 2, in aid of the charity, British Red Cross, by kind permission of Jeremy Lee and family.
Frogbury is a very old thatched and cob Devon farmhouse with an interesting array of outbuildings with woodland and land grazed by sheep.
There is an arboretum and three ponds which are home to many frogs who live there, hence the name Frogbury.
Visitors were able to see a wildflower meadow and the informal gardens with herbaceous beds and a variety of interesting plants and shrubs.
Features included hedgehog hotels, bee hives, barn owls, ducks and geese, together with an orchard and woodland walk and a variety of hares.
The gardens also contain a collection of mature and growing Elm trees.
It was a lovely warm afternoon and the sun shone later for the event.
Garden tours were enjoyed by professional gardener, Tricia Henderson.
It was a rare opportunity to see a most interesting and beautiful private garden with the owner being a dedicated gardener and plant enthusiast.
Cream teas and drinks were served by British Red Cross charity volunteers.
