A LARGE field took advantage of the good weather and superb course for Professional's Day, a four ball better ball stableford at Okehampton Golf Club.

Ashley Moon, Okehampton professional, acted as starter to wish every player well and presented a box of golf balls to everyone who took part.

The overall winners were Colin Sturgess and Terry Jeal with 47 points.

Division One: 1 Del Owen and Lawrence Waldron 45pts bb9, 2 Bill Swainson and Peter Fletcher 45pts, 3 Neil Penfold and John Flavin 44pts bb9.

Division Two: 1 Arnie and Will Searle 45pts, 2 Mike Booth and Dan Potter 43pts, 3 Andy and Lewis Parry 42pts bb9.

Winner of the "nearest the pin" competition on the fourth hole was Jeff May who got it to nine feet. His prize was a magnificent watch presented by Hyundai Cars.

STUART WILSON TROPHY

On Saturday, June 20 more than 100 competitors took part in the Stuart Wilson Trophy stableford. The overall winner of the trophy and winner of Division Two was Ted Boswell with 44 points, 2 John Birch 43pts, 3 Alan Parry 41pts.

Other results were: Division One: 1 Malcolm Hill with 43pts, 2 Graham Milford 42pts, 3 Jonny Rattenbury 40pts.

Division Three: 1 Steve Browne 39pts, 2 Dennis Jenkins 37pts, 3 Dennis Edwards 36pts.

WARREN CROCUS

STABLEFORD

Despite the weather conditions the Okehampton ladies turned out in force to compete for the Warren Crocus Stableford competition.  Four places, two silver and two bronze, were up for grabs at the Dawlish Warren final to be played in September and the competition was keen.

Overall winner was Val Dodsworth, also winning the Bronze Division and reducing her handicap, 2 Sylvie Gower, 3 Doris Jewell.  Silver Division: 1 Maureen Huggins, 2 Jane Warren (on courtback), 3 Marcia Jones. 

The Lady Captain announced that due to some prior commitment those going on to the final at Dawlish Warren would be Val Dodsworth and Maureen Willcocks in the Bronze Division and Jane Warren and Marcie Jones in the Silver Division. 

She wished them the best of luck for the match and hoped the weather would be kinder to them.

JUNIORS

The Basil Steer Team had a fine result at Crediton winning  3-0 against Teignmouth,with Johnny Rattenbury and Lawerence Waldron both with four and three victories and Robin Grey a three and one win. The team are looking forward to the Quarter Final Draw.
