FOLLOWING changes to Mid Devon District Council’s waste and recycling service last year, all refuse is now collected fortnightly and should be left at the kerbside either in black sacks or in one of the grey 180 litre wheeled bins.
As an up-date the council is now reminding residents that it is unable to collect loose refuse from containers which cannot be emptied using the mechanical bin lift on its collection vehicles.
Loose refuse in an incompatible container will no longer be collected in line with the council’s health and safety procedures.
To guard against bags being ripped open by animals, the council will accept refuse stored in domestic waste bins, provided it is bagged using black sacks and tied at the top so that collection crews can easily lift it out.
Anyone wishing to purchase one of the grey 180 litre wheeled bins for the safe storage of refuse can either collect one from MDDC’S Tiverton depot for only £35 or at an additional cost of £5 one can be delivered to their address.
