MID Devon District Council has confirmed that it will not be closing it's Crediton office in Market Street, although has not ruled out a future closure.

The district council has been making plans to move some of the services offered from the office from Crediton to Tiverton but these have recently been put on hold.

Mid Devon's Head of Customer Services Liz Reeves, said: "We are committed to maintaining the much-valued Crediton office and currently have no plans to close it.

"However, with the ever-increasing pressure on our budget, we are reviewing opening hours.

"We are looking at the possibility of lunchtime closing for one hour a day as a practical solution to providing a consistent, reliable and sustainable service, although no final decision has yet been taken."
