NIGEL Cooper, vice chairman of the Crediton branch of the Royal British Legion, recently made a personal visit to the former World War Two concentration camps at Auschwitz and Birkenau in Poland and is pictured under the gate at the entrance to the Auschwitz camp which reads “Abeit Macht Frei” and translated means “Work Sets You Free”.
