DO you have household items which are broken and are too expensive to get repaired?

If you do, don’t send them to landfill – take them along to the Repair Cafe at Crediton Methodist Church on Saturday, March 16 from 10am to 1pm where a team of experts will be on-hand to try and repair them.

The initiative is part of an international movement to provide repair services for household items which would otherwise be deemed not worth repairing and therefore disposed of.

Ian Barnard, who is co-ordinating the event with Ann Varker from the Methodist Church said he hopes that volunteers will step forward to share their skills and help people, helping them fix things and prevent them being disposed of into landfill.

Volunteers who could help, whether that is mending items, sewing, sharpening tools, electrical works or kitchen appliances, or just to assist at the event, are asked to get in touch with Ian on 07578 690226.

Alternatively, email: [email protected] .

Anyone with any questions can also get in touch with Ian through the same number and email.

There will be free advice and guidance and the items people take along for repair must be portable and not large items.

Ian added that this is the second of six such events planned, to-date, adding that there will be PAT testing of electrical items available.

Donations would be welcomed from those who use the Repair Cafe.

Admission is free-of-charge and tea, coffee and cakes will be available during the event.
