SALES of a charity calendar, featuring regulars at The Beer Engine, Newton St Cyres, have not been as successful as hoped and now copies of the calendar are being sold for a suggested donation of £2.

The men, in "Locals Exposed" 2012 calendar, were photographed by former Newton St Cyres resident, Hannah Cockburn.

Hannah persuaded her partner, Russ Ashmore and 11 others, Richard Huxtable, David Owen, Steve Hookway, Jay Morgan, Unity Chikoto, Nick Bradnock, John Iddesleigh, James Ayre, Robert Salomia, Dennis Bradnock and Graham Kerslake, to take part.

Hannah, an amateur photographer and trainee veterinary nurse at the Polsloe and Cranbrook Veterinary Practice, Exeter, took all the photographs of the guys in the calendar.

She explained: "They are all locals at The Beer Engine and are pictured either at work or doing some kind of hobby.

The calendar called "The Locals Exposed" features The Beer Engine bar manager, Jay Morgan, on the front cover. He is pictured pulling a pint behind the bar at the pub.

Dennis Bradnock, who plays in the Crediton Pool League is the February pin-up, with local groundwork contractor, James Ayre, the June pin-up.

Russ Ashmore on his all-terrain vehicle is Mr September, with Unity, a stockman at J G Quicke and Partners, Mr November.

Pages of the calendar have been sponsored by local businesses, individuals or organisations.

Calendar sales will raise money for: Animals Asia, a Hong Kong-based charity dedicated to ending cruelty and restoring respect for animals in Asia; Project Mobility: a project which provides practical help and emotional support, largely to ex-servicemen and women, by converting 4x4 vehicles to be driven by amputees or those with disabilities; The Prostate Cancer Charity: offering support and information to anyone concerned with prostate cancer through research, support, information and campaigning.

The calendar is available from the offices of the "Crediton Country Courier" at 102 High Street, Crediton and Eclipse Hair Salon, Fore Street, Exeter.
