WITH the approval and support of Mid Devon District Council, members of Sustainable Crediton have been busy seeding the wildflower area in Newcombes Meadow, between the bandstand and the football area.

John Craythorne, on behalf of Sustainable Crediton, said: "It looks quite scruffy and unkempt at the moment, but the first sowing is just beginning to germinate, so fingers crossed for a colourful and bee-friendly display this summer."

He continued: "We are looking to safely delineate the area so it is clear what is going on.

"In the meantime, we would ask that park users give it a wide birth, so the flowers have the best chance of getting established in this cold and (mainly) dry spring.

"Please spread the word, especially to your children, if they use the park."
