ON Friday, September 19, Newton St Cyres Parish Council was delighted to welcome all of the school children from Newton St Cyres Primary School to the Recreation Ground to celebrate the official opening of new swings which had been installed over the summer.

The Parish Council is grateful to Mid Devon District Council who funded the swings via a S106 grant.

Following a short introduction from Parish Council Chair, Liz Ouldridge, the ribbon was cut by the oldest and youngest school child, Clara and Ralpie, while the rest of the school looked on.

Refreshments and hotdogs were available for everyone followed, courtesy of the Parish Council.

Many families stayed on while children enjoyed playing in the park in the lovely autumn weather.

Head teacher, Mr Akhurst said: “It's great to work together as a community and I'm very grateful to the Parish Council for inviting us down to celebrate”.
