THE children of Lapford Community Primary School, commissioned Greenspace.co.uk  to make a bespoke sign for their new playground area.

The children sent Greenspace their wildlife pictures and these were then etched into the local timber to make the sign.

The artwork has been well-received by the children.

The new play area was opened in June and includes new play equipment installed by Educational Play Environments.

To mark the occasion the school asked a longstanding member of the community, its very own caretaker,  to cut the ribbon and declare it open.

Ron Leach, who was educated at Lapford Primary School and two further generations of his family have since attended the school, cut the green ribbon with his granddaughter helping.

Thanks were expressed to all who supported and fundraised or gave donations for the playground including pupils, families and local companies.
