VISITORS to Crediton Arts Centre and Leapfrogs Nursery will have noticed the emergence of a new artwork on the garage doors at the entrance to the site during the past few weeks.
The new mural, with an environmental theme, was designed and painted by local artist Andrew Alleway, and now acts as a cheerful and attractive greeting to all who pass or go through the gates.
The mural was funded by a bequest from the late Petrina Brealy, well-known local dancer and actor, who sadly died in May 2021.
Petrina took leading roles in many Arts Centre and Brown Paper Bag productions over many years, including “Pericles”, “The Winter’s Tale”, “The Shaughraun”, “Cinderella”, “The Tinderbox”, “The Government Inspector” and her personal favourite, playing Henry V in the Square.
Many of these productions were directed by Peter Hamilton who, as Courier readers will be aware, also passed away recently.
Both are fondly remembered by many around the town and much missed by all at the Arts Centre.
