ON Sunday, September 13, Worship on the Web at Crediton Methodist Church was led by our new Minister, Rev Alison Richardson, with a theme of Grace, Mercy and Forgiveness.
The family challenge was "What does God’s crown look like?"
One person produced a picture of a crown with large rubies which were interspersed with symbols for Justice, Care and Love. Another person interpreted a crown showing all of creation and saying that God created us to show love to the whole world.
The reading was of the parable of the Unmerciful Servant.
Rev Richardson set that in context of previous chapters of Matthew’s Gospel, saying humility was important and we should set a good example by caring for children and the vulnerable.
Alison then spoke of the parable of the lost sheep, saying how valuable one lost soul is and how joyful God is when that soul comes to Him and that we as "the church" have a responsibility to care and nurture people, especially those who are lost.
Then Alison spoke of the parable of the Unmerciful Servant and said conflict can result in anger and it is our priority to find quickly a reconciliation - God sees and hears all and reigns supremely with grace, mercy and compassion. It is our challenge therefore to show grace, mercy and forgiveness to everyone.
The church was open and several people were able to watch and listen to the Worship on the Web through television screens. Anyone wishing to attend future services in the church will need to book in advance by contacting 01363 772012 or email: [email protected] .
