WHEN a small group of friends, who met regularly at the Knitwits group at Crediton Library, found that they all enjoyed sewing as well as knitting, they decided to form a craft group at Shobrooke.
The group now meet fortnightly on Thursdays at the village hall from 10am to 12noon.
The group covers a wide range of crafts including jewellery making, felt toy making, quilting, card making, decoupage, knitting, crochet and all kinds of sewing.
A supportive environment is offered to crafters to pursue their interests and maybe learn some new crafts.
Although the group has grown since it began new members are also welcome and a free introductory meeting is offered to anyone who would like to go along.
Although the group is mainly, but not exclusively female at present, anyone of any age will be made to feel welcome.
Members pay £2 per session to cover the hire of the hall and tea or coffee, and biscuits.
The group are hoping to be able to offer members workshops and talks by other crafters and trips to craft-related events.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, November 23 and new members are welcome.
The group will be hosting a Christmas Craft Fair in Shobrooke Village Hall on Saturday, November 25, from 2pm to 5pm. Part of the proceeds will go to Help for Heroes as some of the members have military connections.
