IN A year, sharp-witted regulars of the New Inn at Coleford helped to raise an amazing £1,540 for Hospiscare.

The cheque was presented by the “New Inn Quizzers” before one of their regular Sunday evenings at the pub to Sharon Ewart, Hospiscare community fundraiser, with three members of the Crediton Friends of Hospiscare.

They were Lin Stapleton, Sue Coles and Sue Maynard. Landlord George Cowie said the money had been raised through the monthly quizzes and the Christmas draw for which tickets begin to be sold in October, prizes given by local businesses.

The charity for the coming year is Devon Young Carers.
