WITH four years having passed since the last Sandford Flower and Produce Show, it was encouraging to see a good attendance at the AGM held in Sandford Parish Hall on Friday, March 22.
David Munday as President, chaired the evening and recollected AGMs many years ago when Sir Patrick Ferguson Davie was President. The Crediton Courier had published a photograph of the prize winners at a show in the 1950s just a few days before the meeting which brought memories back for those that knew some of them.
The meeting proceeded to the election of officers and since Tony Wright, who has served the Show for so many years feels unable to continue, it was widely welcomed when David proposed him as President.
Tony has been a stalwart of Sandford community for a long time, and we will continue to draw on his wisdom and experience. David Munday then becomes Vice President.
Everyone was pleased when Frederiek Maddock offered to be our future Chair and was duly elected. The other offices were filled, and a new committee formed.
At the closure of the AGM, David especially thanked Keith Stanlake, deceased, for all his contribution to the show and community.
The new committee will now make arrangements to plan the Show for the August Bank Holiday, Monday, August 26, 2024.
We hope to have a schedule available by the end of April so that everyone can start preparations for their entries and make the Show a great success.
