SANDFORD Congregational Church Hall how has 18 new and very comfortable chairs which were bought by grants and donations.
These included donations from the monthly film shows, which have now been running for 12 months. The chairs were used for the March film show, We Bought a Zoo, which told the story of a widower who, with his teenage son and young daughter, bought a zoo after his wife died.
It showed the trials and tribulations of running the zoo and some beautiful shots of the animals.
However, due to a technical hitch, the film stopped just minutes before the end! The last few minutes will now be shown at the start of their next film show, which which will be held on Monday, April 25. The film that day will be the all-time favourite Singing in the Rain, starring Fred Astaire.
This starts at 2pm and free ice creams and refreshments will be served during the interval. A warm welcome is given to all.
The March lunch was attended by 18 people, when Marion Nosworthy and helpers served up home-made cottage pie, followed by cheesecake.
The next lunch will be held on Tuesday, April 26, from 12 noon to 2pm. Cost is just £3 and all are welcome.
