HILLTOP Riding School, which is based at the top of Wrefords Lane in the Pennsylvania area of Exeter, celebrated its 50th year in 2020.
Local equestrian Janet Portbury established the school in 1970 with just a couple of ponies.
Over the years she has taught many people to ride and achieved considerable success at shows and events. There are now around 25 horses and ponies living at Hilltop.
In 2019, she set up Exeter Equine Care, a charity that provides a safe and comfortable home for life for horses and ponies unable to work and in need of care and assistance by reason of age, ailment, or circumstance.
A booklet, entitled "Celebrating 50 years of Janet Potbury’s Hilltop Riding School", has now been produced about the riding school.
It includes colour photographs, illustrations and a short history of the school, as well as details about the charity and current equestrian activities available to the public.
Every copy purchased will help raise much needed funds for the charity, Exeter Equine Care Trust (Reg. charity no: 1188994).
Each booklet costs £5.
The booklets are available to purchase from: Hilltop Riding School, The Secret Garden Café (at Hilltop) Barton Place Farm Shop (Wrefords Lane), Bernaville Nurseries (Cowley), Mole Avon (Crediton) and Tucker’s Country Store (Crediton).

The booklet, which was written by Grace Lippolis, includes front page artwork by Phil Keen.
It is a lovely and informative keepsake.
