BANDS from as far afield as London and Walsall will perform at a charity music festival in memory of a woman from Zeal Monachorum who was killed in South America during an international charity cycle trip.

The Waie Inn at Zeal Monachorum will host the festival on Saturday, November 22, in memory of Sharon Bridgman, to raise money for ShelterBox and Samaritans, two organisations close to her heart.

Mrs Bridgman was fatally injured in a collison with a van on April 26 when travelling through Bolivia with her husband Tim on their North 2 North Cycle Tour.

The collision took place while crossing the world's largest salt flats, the Uyuni, close to the Bolivian and Chilean border.

The couple were raising money for disaster aid charity ShelterBox.

They had been cycling around the world since June 2012. They began in northern Norway and arrived in South Africa on November 19, 2013.

They then travelled to Ushuaia in Argentina to start what should have been a long ride to Alaska in the United States.

When the news broke of Mrs Bridgman's death, the couple's fundraising total stood at around £1,200.

Within hours, thousands of pounds poured into the fund.

The music festival, in Sharon's memory, will start at 4.30pm, with acts including the Saunders Sisters, The Outsiders, The Jax, The Iscatels, The Papers, Kerina and the Slaves and the Blue Funk Allstars.
