CENTRAL Devon MP and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Mel Stride is urging residents in and around Widecombe-in-the-Moor and Drewsteignton to take part in a consultation on changes to local Post Office provision.

The outreach service to Widecombe-in-the-Moor is now operating from Café on the Green on Mondays between 10am and 11.30am and a new outreach service to Drewsteignton is operating at the Drewe Arms on Wednesdays between 12.30pm and 2pm.

Residents are being encouraged to give their views on the locations and opening hours.

To take part, visit: www.postofficeviews.co.uk and either search for “Widecombe” or “Drewsteignton” in the search function. The consultation will close on December 1, 2023.

Mr Stride said: “I would strongly encourage local residents to take part in these consultations. The feedback is vital to the Post Office in ensuring local demand is being met.”

Both outreach services are being provided by Ashburton Post Office, which Mr Stride visited last month to officially open The Hub.

The project – a UK first – has brought together Post Office, library and banking services under one roof.

Mr Stride also recently visited The Drewe Arms to lend his support to the community campaign to buy and re-open the historic pub.
