SIR Mel Stride, the MP for Central Devon, visited Park Farm near Bradninch to meet representatives from Müller UK & Ireland and discuss the future of British dairy farming, food manufacturing and food security.
The visit brought together Müller’s senior agriculture and public affairs team with local dairy farmer Mark Persey, whose family has farmed Park Farm for more than 70 years.
Discussions focused on the challenges facing the dairy sector, including rising costs, environmental regulation, labour availability and the need for long-term investment certainty.
Müller is one of the UK’s largest dairy businesses, purchasing around one fifth of all milk produced nationally and working with more than 1,000 British dairy farmers. The company employs approximately 7,500 people across the UK and plays a significant role in both the food manufacturing sector and the rural economy.
The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the role of domestic food production in strengthening food security and supporting economic growth.

Sir Mel said: “It was extremely valuable to visit Park Farm and hear directly from both Müller and one of its supplying farmers. British agriculture and food manufacturing are strategically important industries that support jobs, investment and food security across the country.”
Mark Persey said: “We were pleased to welcome Sir Mel and discuss both the opportunities and challenges facing modern dairy farming. Long-term stability and investment are essential if farms like ours are to continue producing high-quality British food for future generations.”
