AFTER his previous visit to Crediton last year with his fascinating show “Tangled Up in Dylan”, Steve Page returns to Crediton Arts to perform his show “Moonshine and Dust”, which tells the true story of Steve’s Great, Great Uncle and Aunt, Bert and Agnes.

In 1914 Bert set sail for America in search of work.

Two years earlier Agnes made the same journey hoping for a new start in a new land, leaving behind the daughter she had out of wedlock. This is their story told through classic old-time American songs and songs inspired by their story.?There is heartache, heartbreak and war, life on a southern plantation, bootleggers and hard liquor. It is the story of how Bert and Agnes eventually met in Mississippi and were saved by their love for each other.

The show is described as “warm and emotional” by “altcountryforum” and “simply marvellous” by “Rock ’n’ Reel Magazine”.

The show will take place tomorrow, Saturday, December 8, at 7.30pm, and tickets are available at £10 (£8 concession) from the Arts Centre, Crediton Community Bookshop and Sandford Community Stores.

Also this week there is the return of the ever-popular Big Christmas Quiz, run by the irrepressible Pat Laver – always a lot of fun, and raising money for the Arts Centre at the same time. Teams will be of four or five people.

The quiz will be at the Arts Centre, tonight, Friday, December 7, from 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

Tickets are £5 per person available from Crediton Arts Centre, telephone 01363 773260 or online at: www.creditonartscentre.ticketsource.co.uk .
