TO any who intend to take part in the Devon Historic Churches “Ride and Stride” Day on Saturday, September 10, or those who might be encouraged to take part in this important fundraising event for our local Historic Churches, the Guide to Open Churches has this year not mentioned a number of our churches that will be open for the Day’s event or providing refreshments.

In fact, virtually all 36 churches in the Cadbury Deanery will be open, and many offering soft drinks and biscuits.

In particular the following will be providing more sustaining refreshments:

1 Stoke Canon: coffee etc. and has a toilet.

2 Cheriton Fitzpaine: morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea.

3 Zeal Monachorum: a scrumptious farmhouse cream tea for £5 from 2.30pm to 6pm at Nymphayes Farm, near Zeal Monachorum, Postcode EX17 6DT (to find it on a map or Sat Nav). It is essential to book a place in advance for catering purposes with Mrs Isabel Harris, on telephone 01363 82343 or email: [email protected] .

The farm is down a lane on the left coming from Morchard Road in the Winkleigh direction.

Have a great day out in our beautiful Mid Devon countryside, and look at the painstaking work of our artisans down the centuries.
