THERE was much criticism of Mid Devon District Council when councillors were discussing a planning application for the siting of a temporary rural workers’ dwelling (mobile home) at South West Game Birds, Keymelford Cross, near Yeoford for Mr A Polhill.
Crediton Hamlets Parish Council members at their meeting this month very much wanted a site visit for district council officers and members to see what had already been built.
Hamlets’ chairman, Cllr George Mortimer, said he had been told by the chairman of the planning committee that what was on the site was a park home, but this was what had been there previously.
“We have asked time and again for a planning officer to visit to explain what can and what can not be done. But they have not.
“My interpretation was that a mobile home should be mobile. It seems to be all down to the definition of what is and what is not a mobile home,” said Cllr Mortimer.
It was understood the application had been called in (to be discussed by the planning committee instead of an officer decision). It was hoped there would, at last, be a site visit.
There was much criticism that no-one from the district council had visited with the feeling that “the district council, apparently, could not be bothered”.
BUS STOP
The bus stop outside the Old Town Hall in Crediton was mentioned with a member saying he was overtaking a bus there when another driver came towards him shaking his fist.
Cllr Letch reported that Devon County Council was beginning to talk about electric buses. They were already being built in Russia.
He added that in Devon 42 per cent of emissions were from school buses.
FIRST AID
First Aid training has been organised for Saturday, November 27 at 10am, a three-hour session costing £10, subsidised by Hamlets Council. People wishing to book a space should contact the parish clerk at: [email protected] .
It was agreed to support a notification from Great Western Railway of intention to crown lift all trees (various species) to three metres from the ground level within the conservation area at Yeoford Railway Station.
APPROVALS
The council noted approval for four planning applications, subject to various conditions which can be checked on the district council website.
Erection of an agricultural storage barn/workshop at Denbury Farm, Crediton for Mr A Banbury.
Reserved matters for the erection of five dwellings to include new access and footpath link to the village following outline permission, north of Hill Barton Farm, Yeoford for Mr P Brimacombe.
Listed Building Consent to replace slates to the roof at Ford House, Yeoford for Mr D Pett.
Erection of a workshop and store for woodland and land management, Posbury Clump for Mr E Burke.
NO HELP
Cllr Nick Yarnold had asked the parish council for a contribution towards materials for the planters maintained by Crediton Boniface Rotary Club at the three main road entrances to the town - near Downes Bridge, on the Copplestone road and the Tiverton road.
However, Cllr Andy Cole felt these did not benefit Crediton Hamlets as much as the town.
