A MEETING to discuss the possibility of establishing a community-run shop in Cheriton Fitzpaine will be held next month.
The village shop in Cheriton Fitzpaine, the only shop in the village, is due to close down in December.
A number of people in the parish have suggested that perhaps a community-run shop may be feasible.
It is because of this that Cheriton Fitzpaine Parish Council is organising a Parish Meeting to discuss this possibility.
It will be held at St Matthew’s Church in Cheriton on Thursday, September 15 at 7.30pm.
Sharon Humphreys, from Cheriton Fitzpaine, said: “We will have a few speakers from other villages who have set up community shops so we will learn from their experiences.
“Also a representative from Devon County Council will be there to tell us what help there is available. We do hope that as many parishioners as possible will come to the meeting.”
