CREDITON Community Bookshop has organised two drop-in and meet the author events which will take place in the new Bookshop at 21 High Street, Crediton.?

Michael Morpurgo OBE, master storyteller and a Crediton Community Bookshop patron, will be in the shop from 4pm to 6pm on Friday, November 18, to sign copies of his new book, “Didn’t We Have a Lovely Time!”.

It is a heartwarming story set on a farm with stunning illustrations from Quentin Blake.

Published to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Farms for City Children, the charity founded by Michael and his wife Clare, “Didn’t We Have a Lovely Time!” is based on the true story of a boy whose confidence and speech returns after meeting a very special horse down on the farm.

He will also sign copies of his other books which will be for sale in the shop.

Dr Todd Gray MBE, a Research Fellow at Exeter University, will be signing copies of his latest books in the shop from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday, December 3.

“Strumpets and Ninnycocks; Name-Calling in Elizabethan Devon” and “How to Swear Like an Elizabethan in Devon” have had unprecedented national media coverage for any previous Devon history books, including mention on “Have I Got News For You”.

Crediton features in both volumes which are based on original records in archives in Devon.  The books reintroduce words which were once commonly said in Devon including nippy and ninnycock.
